I’m Nate VanderPlas and I consider myself an animation “jack of all trades.” I’m an animation director creating everything from fully CGI scenes, to motion graphics, visual effects (VFX), character animation, and even stop motion and puppetry.

I’ve been animating since the fifth grade when my science teacher showed me how to make a flip book. Ever since, I’ve been hooked on creating moving images and telling stories with light and sound.

I graduated from Calvin College (University) with a Bachelor’s degree in Media Production in 2008. Later that year I landed my first big freelance gig - animating the Watchmen motion comic for Warner Brothers. Since then I’ve worked for clients such as Herman Miller, Steelcase, Amway, SpartanNash, GORE Medical, ArtPrize, Spectrum Health, and SheFit. I’ve been a part of the Gorilla community (wearegorilla.co) since 2009.

I live with my beautiful wife and two kids in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
